Lesson Two of a two-part lesson for 11-16 year olds exploring homelessness and how The Salvation Army seek to help people experiencing homelessness. There is a Citizenship focus but it has optional RE extension tasks to develop the lesson into a cross curricular learning session. A lesson looking at Faith in Action, what William Booth and The Salvation Army did during the Victorian times. It explores what William Booth did and incorporates some of his famous sayings, for example ‘Soup, soap and salvation’. Pupils learn what it might have been like to live during the Victorian times. There is a range of follow-up activities including comparing what The Salvation Army did 150 years ago, to present day support.
